Competitive Program

Current schedule allows swimmers:
  1. To learn how to budget their own time with strict emphasis at school’ program implementation.
  2. To contribute more time for preparation homework and school projects before regular practice. They also have "morning off" at the next day.

Waterspouts

This is entry-level program to introduce swimmers to competitive swimming. Swimmers are 8-10 years old attend 2-3 practices/week. They develop proper coordination on the deck, transferring this skills in the pool, learn technique of all strokes, turns and dives decently, become involve in Mallards Team life style by participation Team’ events and meets as well. Kids are having fun, building confidence and learning teamwork in the friendly and developmental team structure of Mallards Swim Team.

Tornados

For swimmers under the age 12 years old and they attend 3-4 times/week. The program introduces the swimmer to each skill required for competitive swimming. Swimmers begin basic training, and as strength increases, they learn more advanced stroke technique. Although the emphasis is on developing their skills, it is at this level that they begin to learn the joy of competing and begin to attend meets on a regular basis. Stroke Development Awards & Challenge Awards are given on successful completion of required skills. These meets will focus on technique & fun.

Hurricanes

The swimmers are 10-14 aged and they attend 6-8 practices/week. Basically, their goals are following:
  • Progress to the Junior Provincial level;
  • Train all 4 stroke technique with an emphasis on distance free and 400 IM events;
  • Introduction to dryland training;
  • Learning about nutrition as an source of energy;
  • Understand growth and its impacts;
  • Goal setting-both short and long term.
